San Luis Jilotepeque

Guatemala

San Luis Jilotepeque, a town in Guatemala's Jalapa department, is one of the few Guatemalan municipalities where Poq'omam indigenous artisans produce traditional clay crafts — a tradition that has earned the town the local name "Land of the Clay Jug." A baroque-Renaissance church in the town centre won a national Wonders of Guatemala competition for its department. The town sits close to mountains and within walking distance of water.
