A town on the bank of the Uruguay River in north-eastern Argentina's Misiones Province, facing the Brazilian city of Porto Xavier across the water. Each Easter, it draws thousands of pilgrims from Misiones, Corrientes, Paraguay, and Brazil for a procession to Cerro Monje, where a chapel and calvary stand at the summit. The wider region holds UNESCO World Heritage sites, and mountains are within reach.
