Founded in 1742, San Fernando is the capital of Chile's Colchagua province in the O'Higgins Region, set in a fertile valley near the Tinguiririca River with vineyards in the surrounding countryside. The town has a café and restaurant scene and an unusual concentration of churches for its size, with the Andes close by.
