Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu sits on both banks of the Richelieu River in southwestern Quebec, a short drive southeast of Montreal, and hosts the annual International Balloon Festival that draws large crowds each summer. The walkable centre has a solid café and restaurant scene, and the surrounding Montérégie region offers agrotourism — orchards, cider houses, vineyards, and maple sugar shacks — alongside scenic views toward the mountains.
