A little beach resort on the Bay of Biscay in France's Basque Country, Saint-Jean-de-Luz sits at the mouth of the River Nivelle near the Spanish border, with a well-preserved centre of traditional Basque-style houses and a café and restaurant scene dense for a town its size. Its twin community of Ciboure lies just across the river bridge, and the Pyrenees are within easy reach inland.
