This little Basque village in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques sitting on the Nive des Aldudes river, Saint-Étienne-de-Baïgorry is the main gateway to the Aldudes valley and lies close to the Spanish border via the Izpegi Pass. The nearby Château d'Etchaux and surrounding vineyards add to its appeal, and each May the village hosts the Day of Navarre (Nafarroa Eguna), a cross-border festival drawing thousands from both the French and Spanish sides of Navarre to affirm their shared Basque identity.
