Puerto Octay

A little town on the north shore of Llanquihue Lake in southern Chile, Puerto Octay has a compact central core with cafés and restaurants, lake access within walking distance, and mountain views in the surrounds. Founded by German colonists in 1852, it served as a working port with regular traffic to Puerto Varas until the railway arrived in 1912. Las Cascadas is the other main settlement in the commune.
