Prospect
Blacktown · Australia
One of Sydney's oldest suburbs, Prospect grew from a settlement for emancipated convicts into a village centred on Prospect Hill, a landmark whose name reflects the sweeping views it once offered across the surrounding countryside. Charles Darwin visited in January 1836 to study the geology. Today the tiny central core has cafés and restaurants, and the area sits within reach of water and mountains, with UNESCO World Heritage sites in the wider region.
