Historic spa town in the upper Reno valley of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, Porretta Terme has been known for its thermal springs since Roman times and developed into one of northern Italy's established spa destinations. The town sits on the Reno river in the Emilia-Romagna Apennines near the Tuscan border, with mountain scenery in the surrounds and a pocket-sized central core of cafés and restaurants.
