Known as "the city of painters," this pocket-sized Breton town on the Aven river drew Paul Gauguin, Émile Bernard, William Bouguereau, and a number of other 19th-century artists to its banks. The waterside setting that attracted them remains, along with a café and restaurant scene that outpaces the town's size, making Pont-Aven one of the more photogenic stops in Finistère.
