This compact seaside town on a narrow rocky peninsula in Burgas Bay, Pomorie sits right on the Black Sea and is known for its deposits of healing mud and ancient salt works. The waterfront setting and a café and restaurant scene strong for a town its size make it a practical base on Bulgaria's southern coast, with the ultrasaline Lake Pomorie — a lagoon of the Burgas Lakes system — lying just outside town.
