Pombal is a Portuguese town in the Região de Leiria with a walkable centre full of cafés and restaurants, vineyards in the surrounding countryside, and a river running through it. The municipality sits on the Linha do Norte, the main railway line linking Lisbon and Porto, making it straightforward to reach. In 2017, an unusually large sauropod dinosaur skeleton was uncovered in a resident's backyard, adding an unexpected footnote to the town's profile.
