Mountain town in northern Montenegro, Pljevlja sits along the Ćehotina river with a walkable centre of cafés and restaurants. It occupies a highland valley and borders both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, giving it a crossroads character that dates to the Middle Ages, when it connected the Adriatic coast with the Balkan interior. The wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
