Pieve Tesino
Trento · Italy
Birthplace of Alcide De Gasperi — Italy's first post-war prime minister, born here on 3 April 1881 — this small mountain village in Trentino sits at the geographic heart of the Tesino valley, east of Trento. Recognised as one of I Borghi più belli d'Italia, it also holds the distinction of being the first place in Italy to establish a pro loco tourism association. A handful of cafés and an unusual number of churches round out what the village offers.
