This modest town on the banks of the Drin River in the mountainous northeast of Albania, Peshkopi draws visitors for hiking, camping, mountain biking, and rock climbing in the surrounding hills. The town is also known for its thermal waters, and Mount Korabi — one of the tallest peaks in the Balkans — lies nearby, as does the birthplace of Albania's national hero, Gjergj Kastrioti.
