Parras de la Fuente
Parras · Mexico
Home to Casa Madero, the oldest winery in the Americas, Parras de la Fuente is a wine-producing town in southern Coahuila, Mexico, with vineyards spreading across the surrounding landscape. Founded in 1598, it was designated a Zona de Monumentos Históricos in 1998 and joined Mexico's Pueblos Mágicos programme in 2006. The town is also the birthplace of Francisco I. Madero, and in 1880 Thomas Edison visited to demonstrate electric lighting here — among the earliest such demonstrations anywhere in the world.
