This compact beachside village on New Zealand's North Island, Paekākāriki sits where the Tasman Sea meets the foot of the Akatarawa Ranges on the Kāpiti Coast. The coastal setting — sea on one side, hills on the other — gives it a strong photographic character, and the beach is the main draw for visitors passing through between Wellington and Paraparaumu.
