This riverside city in Lower Northern Thailand sits at the confluence of the Ping and Nan rivers, where they join to form the Chao Phraya, making it a historic gateway to the north. The name translates as "Heavenly City," and the walkable centre has a solid café and restaurant scene. Nakhon Sawan is the largest city in the lower northern region and a practical base for travellers moving between Bangkok and the north.
