Nacala, on the northern coast of Mozambique, is home to the deepest natural port on the east coast of Africa, a fact that has shaped this city in Nampula province into a significant regional hub. It serves as the terminus of the Nacala railway, which connects the coast to landlocked Malawi, and sits within reach of Mozambique Island — once the country's capital and now a World Heritage Site.
