Murat
Cantal · France
Compact mountain town in the Cantal department of south-central France, Murat sits in volcanic highland terrain with scenic surrounds and a concentration of historic churches that exceeds what its size would suggest. Since 2015 it has held the Petites Cités de Caractère label, and in 2020 it added a Ville et Métiers d'Art designation recognising its craft traditions. A handful of cafés and restaurants serve the town centre.
