Montacute
TLK62 · United Kingdom
This Somerset village a short distance west of Yeovil is built almost entirely of local hamstone and is thick with listed historic buildings, including a medieval church and the gatehouse of a former Cluniac priory. At its centre, a large square known as the Borough is lined with stone cottages and a pub. The village sits beneath the conically shaped St Michael's Hill and was for centuries the heart of the Phelips family estate, centred on Montacute House.
