Monheim am Rhein

Germany

A walkable Rhine-side town in North Rhine-Westphalia, between Düsseldorf and Cologne, with a centre full of cafés, restaurants, and historic churches. The town has a history stretching back more than 850 years, and Haus Bürgel — a site tracing its origins to a Roman fort in the north of the town — has been part of the UNESCO-listed Lower Germanic Limes since 2021. Scenic viewpoints open up across the surrounding Bergisches Land to the east.
