Moguer
Huelva · Spain
Birthplace of Nobel Prize-winning poet Juan Ramón Jiménez and a key stop on the lugares colombinos route tracing Christopher Columbus's first voyage, Moguer is an Andalusian town in Huelva province with a photogenic historic centre. The 14th-century Santa Clara Monastery, where Columbus fulfilled a vow on his return from the Americas, anchors the old town. Part of the municipality falls within the Doñana World Heritage site, and Moguer is also Spain's leading strawberry-producing municipality.
