Small village in the mountain terrain of Artvin's Borçka District, Maralkoey sits beside the Maral Waterfall and is known for its endemic flora and fauna. Historically part of the Macahel region, it was once a Georgian settlement called Mindieti, and that layered past adds context to its natural setting. Several UNESCO World Heritage sites lie within the wider region.
