Mankessim
Ghana
Mankessim, in Ghana's Central Region, is the traditional headquarters and paramount seat of the Fante people, whose migration from Techiman was led by three celebrated warriors: Obrumankoma, Odapagyan, and Oson. The town's sacred grove, Nananom Pow, reflects that deep history, while Asafo companies — traditional military groups now preserved as cultural institutions — remain part of local life. A large market draws traders from across Ghana and beyond.
