Angola's second-largest city, Lubango sits in the south of the country with a walkable centre full of cafés, restaurants, and historic churches. Formerly known as Sá da Bandeira — a name it held from 1884 until independence in 1975 — the city is the capital of Huíla Province and lies close to mountains, giving it a cooler climate than much of Angola.
