This pocket-sized village in the Peloponnese's Elis region sits on the slopes of Mount Minthi with views toward the Ionian Sea, and carries a history stretching back to the founding of the Zourtsa Monastery in 975 AD. The settlement was twice burned by Ibrahim's forces in 1825 and 1827 during the Greek War of Independence. A stone church dedicated to St. Nicholas, a folklore museum, and an unusually high number of churches for a village this size give it a modest but real cultural presence, and the Neda waterfalls and the Temple of Apollo Epicurius lie within easy reach.
