Photogenic compact town on the Mur river in Styria's mountain terrain, Judenburg carries a medieval trading history visible in the burgher houses and churches around its main square. Its best-known landmark, the Stadtturm — built around 1500 as a symbol of the town's late-medieval prosperity — has housed a planetarium since 2006. The area also holds early Iron Age significance, with evidence of iron mining and smelting at the nearby Falkenberg and important Hallstatt-period finds in the wider region.
