City in São Paulo state known for the Zooparque, one of Latin America's largest thematic zoos, Itatiba sits in rugged highland terrain about 80 km from the state capital. Its name comes from the Tupi Guarani for "Many Rocks," and in the 1970s it was recognised as Brazil's colonial-style furniture capital. The city is also home to the Quinta da Baroneza country club and golf course.
