Issoudun

Indre · France

Issoudun, a little town in France's Indre department, sits along the Théols river and several smaller waterways, with a café and restaurant scene that punches above its size. The town holds a notable collection of protected historic monuments, including the Tour Blanche, a medieval rampart, the Porte de l'Horloge, and the Château de Frapesle, where Honoré de Balzac stayed with friends and wrote much of César Birotteau. A Natura 2000 natural site adds an ecological dimension to the area.
