Hoeselt
Belgium
A small Belgian town in Limburg province with vineyards in the surrounding countryside and scenic views nearby, Hoeselt also carries a long history: Roman-era finds have turned up in its fertile soil, and its triangular old centre and motte hill reflect a Frankish past. The town's name, recorded as Housle in 1066, derives from words meaning "house by the forest," and its woodlands were cultivated through the 12th and 13th centuries. It now forms part of the merged municipality of Bilzen-Hoeselt.
