A small Aragonese town at the confluence of the Esera and Isabena rivers in the Pyrenees, Graus is home to the Basilica de Santa Maria de la Peña and a nearby Buddhist monastery, and sits in one of the few areas of Aragon where the Aragonese language is still spoken. The 11th-century Battle of Graus was fought here, and the philosopher Baltasar Gracián y Morales was exiled to the town. The wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
