Türkiye Canakkale

Gelibolu

Canakkale · Türkiye

Gelibolu — the Turkish town whose name English speakers know as Gallipoli — sits on the European shore of the Dardanelles strait, serving as a ferry crossing point between the two sides. The town is the main settlement along the middle section of the peninsula and a base for exploring the area's sights, including the Çanakkale 1915 Suspension Bridge, opened in March 2022. Visitors heading for the World War I landing sites should note those are further south, around Eceabat and Kilitbahir.
