A town in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar district, Garhakota sits on the banks of the Sunar River and holds an ancient fort built by Maharaja Mardan Singh. It is also the home town of the well-known politician Pandit Gopal Bhargava, and serves as the headquarters of its tehsil.
