A little town in the Aveyron department of southern France, Espalion sits directly on the Lot river, with a café and restaurant scene in its compact centre and vineyards in the surrounding countryside. Seven buildings carry national heritage protection, among them the Old Bridge (classified 1888), the chapel of Perse (classified 1862), and the castle of Calmont d'Olt (classified 1992).
