Rock-shelter and cave system in the Cundinamarca highlands, El Abra is one of the earliest known sites of human settlement in the Americas, with evidence of occupation dating back around 12,400 years to Late Pleistocene hunter-gatherers. Spread across a valley in the eastern Colombian Andes north of Bogotá, the site sits at high elevation within the municipality of Zipaquirá, extending into Tocancipá.
