Debar
North Macedonia
This western North Macedonia town on the shore of Lake Debar — an artificial lake formed where the Black Drin and Radika rivers meet — and a southern gateway into Mavrovo National Park. Debar has an ethnic Albanian majority, making it unusual among North Macedonian cities, with Macedonian and Albanian both serving as official languages. Several UNESCO World Heritage sites lie within the wider region.
