Dalton
Israel
This modest wine-producing moshav in the mountains of northern Israel near Safed, Dalton was founded in 1950 by immigrants from Tripoli and sits beside the ruins of a medieval Jewish village of the same name. On its grounds stands a tomb attributed to the 2nd-century rabbinic sages Jose the Galilean and his son Rabbi Yishmael. The Dalton Winery and a guesthouse serve visitors, and the wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
