A town in Sibiu County, Transylvania, known for its Transylvanian Saxon heritage and set along the Cisnădie River at the foothills of the Cindrel Mountains, Cisnădie also carries an industrial chapter in the form of its communist-era carpet factories. The wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites, and the nearby village of Cisnădioara is included within the town's boundaries.
