Chek Lap Kok is a largely artificial island in Hong Kong's western waters, created through major land reclamation between 1992 and 1996 and now home to Hong Kong International Airport. The island also hosts Hong Kong SkyCity, a business and entertainment complex that includes AsiaWorld–Expo convention centre, along with the head offices of Cathay Pacific and HAECO, giving the island a modest commercial core with cafés and restaurants beyond the airport terminals themselves.
