Calatayud, a town in Aragón on the river Jalón, is known for the Mudéjar towers of its old-town churches and a castle whose origins date to around 850 AD. The Roman settlement of Bilbilis lies just outside the modern town. Set within the Sistema Ibérico mountains, it holds a range of shops, bars, restaurants, and accommodation, and sits within reach of several UNESCO World Heritage sites in the wider region.
