Bugøynes

Norway

A modest fishing village on the Varangerfjorden — a broad bay off the Barents Sea — in Norway's far northeastern Finnmark county, Bugøynes sits well above the Arctic Circle near the Russian border. Its large Finnish-speaking population has earned it the nickname "Little Finland," making it one of the few places in Norway where Kven culture remains a living presence alongside Norwegian and Northern Sami.
