This university city in the state of São Paulo, Botucatu sits at elevation on the São Paulo plateau — a geography that gives the city its name, derived from the cold plateau winds that cool it year-round. Home to a major UNESP campus focused on biomedical and agricultural sciences, the city also draws visitors for its waterfalls, paragliding, and other outdoor pursuits in the surrounding highlands.
