A little canal-ringed town in northern France's Nord department, Bergues sits close to the Belgian border in a historically Flemish area and has a café and restaurant scene that punches above its size. It is known locally as "the other Bruges in Flanders" and gained wider French recognition as the filming location for Dany Boon's 2008 comedy Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis.
