Barquisimeto

Known as the "Music City of Venezuela," Barquisimeto is a large inland city in Lara State and the country's fourth-largest urban centre. Founded in 1552, it is home to a concentration of musical institutions and is the birthplace of Gustavo Dudamel, director of both the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. It also serves as a major commercial and agricultural hub for western Venezuela.
