Banaue
Philippines
Two UNESCO World Heritage rice terraces — the Batad and Bangaan terraces — draw visitors to this tiny municipality in Ifugao province, set in the Cordillera mountains of northern Luzon. The terraces also hold National Cultural Treasure status. For a settlement of its size, Banaue has a reasonable spread of cafés and restaurants, and the surrounding mountains and nearby water make it a practical base for exploring the wider highland region.
