A small town in the Albanian Alps, Bajram Curri sits in the Valbonë Valley of northeastern Albania near the Kosovo border, with a central core of cafés and restaurants serving as the main hub for the surrounding Tropojë district. The town takes its name from Bajram Curri, a national hero who fought for ethnic Albanians against the Ottoman Empire and later against the Albanian government. It was known as Kolgecaj until 1952.
