This small town in the southern Ardèche with a café and restaurant scene that is well stocked for its size, Aubenas sits on the river Ardèche at a crossroads between the Ardèche canyon and gorges, the Cévennes mountains, and the regional natural park. The surrounding area holds several villages of note — including Vogüé, Balazuc, and the spa town of Vals-les-Bains — and the wider region is chestnut-growing and wine country.
