Askim

Norway

A modest industrial town in Østfold sitting alongside the Glomma — Norway's longest river — with a modest central core of cafés and restaurants. Three hydroelectric power stations operate along the Glomma within the town's boundaries, and the annual Kraftfestivalen music festival holds its opening concert each August in the old turbine hall at the Kykkelsrud power station. Historically a manufacturing centre, Askim lies a short drive southeast of Oslo.
