Arad

Israel

Sitting on the border of the Negev and Judaean deserts with the Dead Sea a short drive to the east, Arad is a planned Israeli town founded in 1962 — the first of its kind in the country. The ruins of Tel Arad and a well-known annual summer music festival, the Arad Festival, are among its draws, and the wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
